Description
Colombian Redtail Boas for sale
Name / Scientific name: Colombian Redtail Boa (Boa constrictor imperator)
Natural habitat: Found throughout Central and South America, Colombian redtail boas inhabit a variety of environments, from tropical rainforests to dry scrublands. They are semi-arboreal and often found near water sources.
Recommended enclosure size and type: Babies can be started in a 10 gallon sized terrarium or plastic bin setup, while adults require a much larger enclosure, around 6x2x2 feet. A secure, well-ventilated enclosure with both vertical climbing branches and ground space is ideal to accommodate their semi-arboreal nature.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot of 88-92°F with an ambient temperature in the mid-70s to low 80s (°F). Ensure a temperature gradient to allow the boa to thermoregulate.
Humidity requirements: Colombian redtail boas require moderate humidity levels of 50-60%, which can be increased to 70% during shedding. A shallow water bowl and occasional misting help maintain these levels.
Feeding on: Feed appropriately sized rodents depending on the boa’s age and size. Meals should be a little bit smaller than the widest part of your boa’s body. Juveniles should be fed every 7-10 days, while adults typically eat every 14-21 days. Adjust feeding frequency based on the boa’s body condition and growth rate.
