Description
Brazilian Rainbow Boas for sale
Name / Scientific name: Brazilian Rainbow Boa (Epicrates cenchria)
Natural habitat: Brazilian rainbow boas are native to the rainforests of South America, particularly in Brazil. They thrive in humid, tropical environments with dense vegetation and access to water sources.
Recommended enclosure size and type: Juveniles can be started in a 10-gallon terrarium or plastic bin type setup, while adults require a larger enclosure, around 4x2x2 feet. A secure, well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of hiding spots and substrate for burrowing is ideal.
Heat gradient: Provide a temperature gradient with a basking spot of 85-88°F and a cooler side around 75-78°F. Brazilian rainbow boas are sensitive to overheating, so avoid temperatures above 90°F.
Humidity requirements: Brazilian rainbow boas need high humidity levels of 75-85%. Daily misting and the use of moisture-retaining substrates, such as cypress mulch or coconut husk, help maintain these levels. A water bowl large enough for soaking can also aid in humidity and support hydration.
Feeding on: Brazilian rainbow boas primarily eat rodents. Feed appropriately sized live or frozen-thawed prey every 7-10 days for juveniles and every 10-14 days for adults. Adjust feeding frequency based on the snake’s age, size, and body condition.
