Mexican Black Kingsnakes for sale
Name / Scientific name: Mexican Black Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula nigrita)
Natural habitat: Native to the deserts and scrublands of Sonora, Mexico, these kingsnakes thrive in arid, rocky areas with sparse vegetation.
Recommended enclosure size and type: A PVC or wood enclosure measuring at least 3×2 feet works well for adults, with ample hiding spots and secure ventilation. Plastic tubs can also be used effectively, especially for smaller or younger snakes.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot of 88-90°F with a cooler side around 75°F. The ambient temperature should be kept in the low 80s, allowing the snake to thermoregulate.
Humidity requirements: Mexican Black Kingsnakes thrive in low to moderate humidity levels, ideally around 40-50%. A shallow water dish and occasional misting during shedding periods are sufficient.
Feeding on: These kingsnakes are carnivores and should be fed appropriately sized rodents. Juveniles can be fed every 5-7 days, while adults do well on a 10-14 day feeding schedule, adjusting based on size and condition.
