Description
California Kingsnakes for sale
Name / Scientific name: California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula californiae)
Natural habitat: Native to a range of habitats across California and surrounding regions, California kingsnakes can be found in deserts, grasslands, forests, and scrublands. They are highly adaptable to various environments.
Recommended enclosure size and type: A PVC or wood enclosure of at least 3×2 feet is suitable for adults, providing secure ventilation and multiple hiding spots. Plastic tubs can also be effective, especially for younger snakes or simpler housing needs.
Heat gradient: Maintain a basking area at 88-90°F, with a cooler side around 75°F. Ambient temperatures should remain in the low 80s during the day, giving the snake ample opportunity to thermoregulate.
Humidity requirements: California Kingsnakes do best with low to moderate humidity, ideally around 40-50%. A shallow water dish and occasional misting during shedding will help maintain appropriate hydration without raising humidity excessively.
Feeding on: These kingsnakes are carnivores and typically thrive on a diet of appropriately sized rodents. Feed juveniles every 5-7 days, while adults can be fed every 10-14 days, adjusting based on size and condition.
