Description
Desert Kingsnakes for sale
Name / Scientific name: Desert Kingsnake (Lampropeltis splendida)
Natural habitat: Found in the deserts and scrublands of the southwestern United States, especially in Texas and northern Mexico, Desert Kingsnakes thrive in arid, rocky environments with sparse vegetation.
Recommended enclosure size and type: A PVC or wood enclosure measuring at least 3×2 feet is ideal for adults, with secure ventilation and hiding spots. Plastic tubs are also suitable, especially for younger snakes or simpler setups.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot of 88-90°F with a cooler side around 75°F. Ambient temperatures should be kept in the low to mid-80s, allowing the snake to move between warm and cool areas.
Humidity requirements: Desert Kingsnakes prefer low humidity, ideally around 30-40%. A shallow water dish and occasional misting during shedding periods should be sufficient to maintain hydration without increasing humidity too much.
Feeding on: Desert Kingsnakes are carnivorous and do well on a diet of appropriately sized rodents. Feed juveniles every 5-7 days and adults every 10-14 days, adjusting based on their size and condition.
