Description
Caiman Lizards for sale
Name / Scientific name: Caiman Lizard (Dracaena guianensis)
Natural habitat: Native to the wetlands, swamps, and riverbanks of South America, caiman lizards are semi-aquatic and thrive in tropical environments with access to both land and water.
Recommended enclosure size and type: Caiman lizards need a large enclosure, with at least 6x3x4 feet of space, though larger is better, especially for adults. The enclosure should include a large water area for swimming, as well as sturdy branches or logs for climbing and basking.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot of 95-100°F with an ambient temperature in the low to mid-80s, and a cooler side around 75°F. A UVB light source is essential for calcium absorption and overall health.
Humidity requirements: Maintain high humidity levels between 60-80%. Daily misting, along with the water area, will help maintain these levels. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent excessive moisture buildup, which can lead to respiratory issues.
Feeding on: Caiman lizards are primarily carnivorous and have a diet focused on snails, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. They can also eat canned or frozen snails, shelled seafood, and occasional high-quality reptile foods. Feed every 1-2 days, adjusting frequency based on age and size.
