Description
Gopher Snakes for sale
Name / Scientific name: Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer)
Natural habitat: Native to North America, gopher snakes are found in diverse habitats, including deserts, grasslands, forests, and farmlands. They are highly adaptable and thrive in dry, open environments with access to burrows.
Recommended enclosure size and type: An adult gopher snake requires a PVC or wood enclosure of at least 4×2 feet, with plenty of floor space and secure hiding areas. Plastic tubs can be used effectively for juveniles or simpler setups.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot around 85-88°F, with a cooler side around 75°F. The ambient temperature should be kept in the low 80s during the day, allowing the snake to thermoregulate.
Humidity requirements: Gopher snakes prefer low to moderate humidity, ideally around 30-50%. A shallow water dish and occasional misting during shedding cycles are typically sufficient to maintain hydration.
Feeding on: These snakes thrive on a diet of appropriately sized rodents. Feed juveniles every 5-7 days, while adults do well on a 10-14 day feeding schedule, adjusting frequency based on their size and condition.
