Description
Nelson’s Milksnakes for sale
Name / Scientific name: Nelson’s Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum nelsoni)
Natural habitat: Found in dry, arid regions of Mexico, Nelson’s Milksnakes inhabit areas with rocky outcrops and sparse vegetation, often seeking shelter in crevices or under debris.
Recommended enclosure size and type: An enclosure of PVC or wood, measuring at least 3×2 feet, is ideal for adults, providing security and ample hiding spots. Plastic tubs are also suitable, especially for younger snakes or minimalist setups.
Heat gradient: Maintain a basking spot of around 85-88°F, with a cooler side in the low to mid-70s. The ambient temperature should be in the low 80s to allow the snake to thermoregulate.
Humidity requirements: Nelson’s Milksnakes prefer moderate humidity, ideally around 40-50%. A shallow water dish and occasional misting, especially during shedding, help maintain proper hydration without excessive moisture.
Feeding on: These milksnakes are carnivores, thriving on a diet of appropriately sized rodents. Feed juveniles every 5-7 days and adults every 10-14 days, adjusting based on their size and body condition.
