Description
Red Bearded Dragons for sale
Name / Scientific name: Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps)
Natural habitat: Native to the arid deserts and scrublands of central Australia, bearded dragons thrive in dry, open environments with plenty of sunlight and basking areas.
Recommended enclosure size and type: Juveniles can be housed in a 20-gallon tank, but adults need a minimum of a 40-gallon tank (though 75 gallons or larger is ideal). Use a well-ventilated glass or PVC enclosure with a secure top to allow for proper airflow and prevent escapes.
Heat gradient: Provide a basking spot of 95-105°F with a cooler side in the mid-70s to low 80s. Bearded dragons are diurnal and require a UVB light source for 10-12 hours daily to help with calcium absorption and overall health.
Humidity requirements: Maintain low humidity levels around 30-40%. Bearded dragons are adapted to arid environments, so excess humidity can lead to health issues. Light misting or a shallow water dish can provide occasional hydration.
Feeding on: Offer a varied diet of live insects, such as crickets and dubia roaches, for protein, alongside a mix of leafy greens and vegetables. Juveniles need daily feeding, while adults can be fed insects every 2-3 days with daily greens.
